I couldn't justify the price for the RX-8, so I looked at the aluminum riser model that's basically the same bow (Ventum I think?), but it has almost the identical specs to the Mathews. So it ultimately came down to the features and the longgggg riser of the Phase 4 33. I already have a dovetail rest and that worked better with the Mathews.

If you have a V3X like me, I personally wouldn’t buy a Phase 4. It would be cheaper to add limb dampeners between the limbs or buy an adjustable stab, like the crossover stabs on my V3X. If you don’t have a Phase 4, it is one of the top 2 bows Ive shot this year. Oh I almost forgot it wasn’t $2,000! It is light but so is the new Mathews. They claim it’s stronger than carbon and dampens vibration 3X better than 6061 aluminum and 20X more than carbon. 30% lighter than 6061 aluminum as well. Just seems like a hard sale and you’re really limiting your customer base.

The VTM 34 has a true center shot at around 3/4”, in other words the arrow is coming straight out of the bow at that distance. The V Pro 33 was closer to 5/8”. So I much prefer the VTM from that aspect. The VTM also has the hole in the riser for the drop away rest which is nice.
I shot a matthews phase 4 29 and the new hoyt vtm 34 as well. My takeaway was I didn't like the way the matthews fit my hand. It felt a little top heavy, not crazy but kind of noticeable and could've used a back bar. The vtm 34 was awesome at anchor bc it felt less scrunched up but I could literally feel my pinky shake with the shot like vibrating.The Mathews was shooting at 307 fps vs 296 from the Hoyt (!). I was so impressed by the draw cycle vs. speed from the Mathews. Then you consider the riser length of the Mathews (33.5" vs. 31" from the Hoyt) and the weight (4.25 lbs. vs. 4.5 lbs. from the Hoyt) and the reflex (1.5" on the Mathews vs. 1.75" on the Hoyt)...Honestly gotta shoot them both one will just feel better to you. If you can’t shoot both based on the specs the Mathews is a shorter ata at 34ish and the Hoyt is 36ish. The Hoyt in theory should be more forgiving because it is longer.
