Regardless of it being a key date they cant make you use more PPTO than the shift you work (IE if you work a 6 hour shift on the key date you only use 6 hours not 12). Also you can use enough PPTO to cover half the shift and only get 1pt (IE 6 hour shift as long as you use 3 hours of PPTO you only get 1 point instead of 2 for missing.
