I normally use the throttle half of my Thrustmaster HOTAS for collective inputs. I don't even use the stick half in Arma, preferring the mouse and keyboard for attitude inputs.

BFM teaches you that throttle doesn't matter, in AFM throttle matters at every speed even you are flying straight. It takes far more concentration and skill to fly AFM. I would say 95% of AFM players are worse than a good BFM pilot.
